WDCA | The Reality of AI for Interior Design projects: A Tool, Not a Complete Solution

At WDCA, we embrace technology — but with discernment.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made its way into the world of design, and it’s only natural to ask: Does it really help? Can an entire project be done using only AI?

The short answer: no, at least not yet.
AI can add value in certain stages of the process, but it’s not a definitive solution. It makes mistakes — sometimes hard to fix — and requires constant supervision.

The Role of AI in Our Work at WDCA.

We don’t generate renders using AI. All our renders are professionally created with V-Ray, carefully crafting every texture, lighting, and proportion with precision.

What we do use AI for is support — especially in post-production or during the early creative stages:

  • Texture and atmosphere enhancement: Tools like Krea allow us to add a more emotional or artistic finish to certain images.

  • People insertion: AI has improved greatly here. We can integrate human figures to add scale and life without breaking visual coherence.

  • Aesthetic inspiration: In early phases, we use AI to explore styles, combinations, or ideas, which we then refine professionally.

What’s Not Working (Yet)?

Despite the excitement around AI, its limitations remain evident. We have tested it and continue to actively experiment, but there are still aspects that don’t work as they should:

  • Videos generated from real images: When we try to create videos from our renders, the results are unreliable. Scenes become distorted or lose coherence. So far, good results only come when everything is generated from scratch.

  • Text in images: AI still struggles with visual language. Words often appear distorted, misspelled, or incoherent.

  • Errors that are hard to fix: AI frequently makes mistakes with proportions, scale, or spatial arrangement, which can take a lot of manual time to correct.

We continue to experiment with these tools, adapting to their advances and limitations. Technology evolves quickly—and so do we.

How Does the Client Benefit from This?

  • More impactful and expressive visualizations.

  • Clearer visual communication from the early stages.

  • A faster process without losing quality or professional control.

Aesthetic Inspiration (AI-Generated Visual Ideas).

In conclusion.

  • AI is a useful tool, but it doesn’t replace knowledge, experience, or human judgment. At WDCA, we integrate it with common sense to enhance the visual process without losing control over the design. Because, in the end, real, functional, and personalized design is still the work of people.
